2011 was apparently the year of the live show. I somehow managed to attend 27 shows this year, which is a new record for me. I saw some artists for the first time, like Rihanna, Goo Goo Dolls, and Keith Urban. I also tallied up more shows from some of my favorites, like Gavin DeGraw, Kris Allen, and David Cook.

Earlier this evening, American Idol season 10 alum Pia Toscano and singer-songwriter Andy Grammer performed at the 555 California Street Holiday Tree Lighting in San Francisco. Check out performances from the event below!

The other night at David Cook’s show in Springfield, MO , he was apparently asked to cover “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks in honor of a couple’s anniversary. Who was the couple? His tour manager Jody and his wife, singer Meredith Brooks! Check out his performance below!
Yeah, so this is pretty much my new favorite cover that I didn’t even know I wanted.
What do y’all think of the new cover song? And what other female singer’s music catalogue should DCook dive into? I’m thinking Liz Phair…
Earlier today Windup Records recording artist and American Idol season 10 alum, James Durbin, made an appearance at Santana Row in San Jose, CA.
After doing a meet-n-greet with fans, James performed a stripped down set of songs from his debut album, Memories of a Beautiful Disaster for the crowd.
Set list: “Stand Up,” “Right Behind You,” “Love Me Bad,” “Screaming,” and “Love in Ruins.”
Check out video of James’ performance below!

I literally just got home from work and logged onto Twitter to find that the very talented Syesha Mercado (Idol season 7, Dreamgirls) had posted a cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” Check out her fantastic performance below!
The girl has got some pipes! Very few can do justice to an Adele song and she just did it seamlessly. Absolutely fabulous vocal performance, Syesha!

Last night on The Tonight Show, Patrick Stump took the stage to perform his current single, “This City.”
Check it out!
All this performance did was make me want to see him in concert again…BADLY. Seriously y’all, one of the best live acts out there right now.
Pick up a copy of Patrick’s record, Soul Punk, if you haven’t already!
Over the weekend, Tim Halperin revealed that he would be releasing four new music videos to coincide with the tracks on his Acoustic Sessions EP.
Tim talked with me a few months back about how he went about choosing which songs to highlight on this particular EP.
“We had a cellist for the acoustic sessions, so we thought about the songs that might go well with a cello. Definitely “Where I’m Going,” “Memories on the Ground,” and “The Last Song,” of course were the ones that would be best for that. The ones on the EP are more of the slower tracks that are going to be on the full-length CD. A lot of the ones that you haven’t heard yet are songs that are more pop, even more OneRepublic style, that kind of stuff. I think it turned out really cool.”
The music video for “The Last Song” is the first of the four videos to be unveiled. The track was produced by Jordan Critz. The video was shot and edited by Chris Wiegand.
Check out the new acoustic live performance music video for “The Last Song” below!
Tim Halperin’s Acoustic Sessions EP is available now on iTunes and Amazon.com!

[Note from Kirsten: Yes, this is a recap of my show from last month…better late than never, right? Enjoy!]
If you follow me on Twitter (and if you’re not, get on that), then you know that as soon as it was rumored that Gavin DeGraw and David Cook would be hitting the road together, I was legit excited.
October 20 finally rolled around, and my friend Sarah and I trekked out to Santa Rosa all in the name of seeing what was sure to be an amazing show. And was it ever!
The night kicked off with Carolina Liar, whom I was feeling pretty enamored with at the end of their set. Admittedly, I only knew the songs off their first album, but I’ve already rectified that issue with some Spotify listening sessions. The band did a great job of getting the crowd going and ready for music from the night’s headliners. I truly look forward to seeing them play again; they brought a lot of excitement to the stage.
Next up was the performer that I was probably most looking forward to seeing that evening, being Mr. Gavin DeGraw. I’ve seen Gavin a couple times before, but I was so looking forward to hearing the new material from Sweeter. I have a lot of love for his latest album. When an artist can take their sound and build on it, to me, that’ s exciting. Plus, I couldn’t wait to see how the new material would be showcased onstage. And, oh man, did he and his band ever deliver!
From the moment Gavin kicked off his set with “Candy,” a song off his new record, I was up and on my feet singing-a-long with the rest of the people in my section that were there to have a good time that night. Continue reading RECAP: Gavin DeGraw & David Cook LIVE in Santa Rosa, CA
