Kelly Clarkson To Advise Contestants During Season Two of NBC’s The Voice

The original American Idol is set to work with Blake Shelton’s team of contestants during the upcoming season of The Voice.

According to an article on the New York Post’s website and confirmed earlier this morning by NBC, Kelly Clarkson will be one of the eight advisors during season two of The Voice. The singer will be providing guidance to Blake Shelton’s team during the
battle rounds” portion of the season.

Well, color me happy!

I am so beyond stoked about this news, I seriously don’t even know where to start. Having Queen Kelly on The Voice is that edge that the show will need when it goes up against Idol this season. I mentioned a couple times during my past coverage of Idol that I thought they should have brought back Kelly along with the other winners to mentor the contestants, because who else would understand the machine that is Idol better than the winners? But hey, ya snooze, ya lose!

And while I was wrapped up in excitement about Kelly joining Team Blake this season, the rest of the advisors were announced!

Team Adam: Robin Thicke (YESSSSSS!!!!) & Alanis Morissette

Team Blake: Queen Kelly & Miranda Lambert (D’awwww…Blake’s wife!)

Team Cee Lo: Babyface & Ne-Yo (!!!!!!!)

Team Christina: Jewel & Lionel Richie

I am loving this season’s advisors, although I will admit that I am legit confused by Team Xtina. Being that she mentored contestants with big, divalicious voices last season, I am interested to see the dynamic between her team and her advisors. But, maybe she’s going to be looking for singers this season with more soul and artistry, rather than straight up power vocals. I’d be all for that!

And it’s kind of interesting to see what type of artists are aligned with each team. Adam Levine’s advisors are R&B and rock, Cee Lo is straight up R&B – with the best of the old and new school, and Blake has his successful country star of a wife, plus a pop artist that’s crossed over into country music a couple times and has had a lot of success in doing so. So much talent. I am so stoked.

Major props to The Voice for building on what they started last season. With more big names from the music world getting involved, I am legitimately excited to see what new talent the show brings this season!

Season two of The Voice premieres after the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5. You can catch Kelly Clarkson performing on Saturday Night Live this weekend with host Charles Barkley.
