Happy New Year, y’all! I don’t how everyone’s music listening habits fared during 2021, but I found myself leaning into a lot of comfort music from my youth. Though lots of TLC, Boyz II Men, and Britney Spears dominated my playlists, I made plenty of room for 2021 releases.

Megan Thee Stallion aka Tina Snow Returns with “Thot Shit”
Hot Girl Summer is officially in full effect!
After picking up three Grammy awards earlier this year, Megan Thee Stallion is back with her first solo release of 2021, “Thot Shit.” This new single rolls out the red carpet for the return of Megan’s alter ego, Tina Snow.
Both the song and the music video speak to women living their best lives unapologetically. After the year that Megan has had, a celebratory anthem seems absolutely fitting.
“Thot Shit” was produced by LilJuDaBeat and OG Parker. The music video, which you can check out above, was directed by Aube Pierre.

#MusicMonday: Molly Burch – “needy”
In the midst of watching the latest season of Shrill, I heard a familiar song by an unfamiliar voice. A quick Shazam introduced me to Molly Burch, who released her haunting cover of Ariana Grande’s “needy” in 2020.
It hit me in my feels on first listen, and really, it’s a perfectly relatable vibe for when our collective state of languishing gets to be too much.

Yeah, I said it. CRIMINALLY. UNDERRATED.
Charlie took to Twitter today to shout out the song that “changed his life.”
Cheers to “Attention” and its groovy-af bass line!

Earlier this week, Justin Bieber released a 15-minute special performing five new songs from his latest album, Justice. Filmed in Paris, the performances were captured in the open-air, against the Parisian sky with the Eiffel Tower looming in the background as well as from “the lush ruins” of a vacant hotel within the city.
