Throwback Thursday >> Patrick Stump – “This City”

First off, this post really isn’t about a throwback song, it’s more of a love note to my hometown of San Jose. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I am a huge San Jose Sharks fan & last night the team defeated the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals to move on to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history.

Beyond being absolutely ecstatic about my team having the opportunity to win a Stanley Cup this season, I am thrilled for the city of San Jose. Yeah, we have technology and awesome festivals & events going for us, but there’s a real sense of community surrounding the Sharks.

While at the mall last weekend (rockin’ my Joe Pavelski hoodie), I bumped into other fans in their Sharks gear. It’s just the coolest thing. I love we have a team that brings out wonderful passion in fans and just energizes our city.

Just as my emotions were starting to wind down last night, the lyrics to Patrick Stump’s “This City” came to mind and I was basically overwhelmed by all the awesomeness of going to the Stanley Cup Final all over again. I just feel like the song really summed up my feelings about the night, and just the pride that I have for the city I was raised in and the team that I cheer for.

I am so excited for my fellow Sharks fans, our city, and of course, our team to be a part of something really special during these coming weeks.

“This city is my city, and I love it, yeah, I love it…”
