Happy New Music Tuesday!
This week, American Idol alum and current EMI CMG/Sparrow Records recording artist Colton Dixon released “Never Gone,” his first post-Idol song to iTunes. The track raced up the iTunes charts and hit number one on the Christian & Gospel songs chart and as of press time is #25 on the overall chart.
Colton wrote the track with Adam Watts/Andy Dodd and Gannin Arnold. He told Yahoo! Music’s Reality Rocks over the summer, “This song is about how we sometimes we need a reminder for why we do what we do or in this case Who we are living for. As a kid, you get scared of the dark and turn the lights on to make sure everything is okay. Same goes for God. I want to make sure that He’s there, and He always replies with ‘I never left.’ This song means a lot, because I’ve experienced it. I’ve gone through hard times and I just want to know that God is there.”
Colton performed “Never Gone” during his set throughout this summer’s American Idol Live! tour and received a tremendous response from the fans. The track really showcases was Colton does best, featuring his soaring vocals accompanied by an intense, piano-driven arrangement.
