On the morning of October 1, I received this awesome email that told me that I had won two tickets to Keith Urban’s Get Closer tour that night at the HP Pavilion. SCORE!
Granted I’m not a huge country music fan, but I’ve been a Keith Urban fan since college. I remember hearing “You’ll Think of Me” on the radio and swooning over his voice. I was not about to pass up on an opportunity to see him live, even if I was fighting off one of the worst colds ever. Robitussin cough syrup, kids. Works miracles.
I have to say that Keith Urban is one helluva performer! This show had all my favorite things: a great stage set-up, with a huge digital screen as to see Keith’s beautiful, smiling face throughout the show, audience participation, a flow to the set list, and cute boys playing everything from bass to banjos.
Keith’s energy and charisma throughout the show was absolutely infectious. I’m not familiar with his entire catalogue of music, but I was up dancing throughout the show. I really liked that Keith moved around the arena, going from the main stage to the center of the floor, plus at one point, he was playing in the section over from my seats!
My favorite part of the show happened right at the very end, during a short speech Keith gave before closing the show with my favorite song of his, “Better Life.” Check out the video below!
I appreciate an artist that recognizes that we don’t live in easy times. And for him to go out of his way to let his fans know that he truly appreciates them for spending their money on a ticket to see him is just a classy move. I was very much impressed by that.
On the whole, I never knew I could have so much fun at a country music show! It was a great night, and I hope to see Keith again when he rolls through town!
